How to Install Electric Outlets on a Kitchen Island
If you plan to install an island in your kitchen, you can improve your design by adding a socket. This will provide additional features. It is important to know the recommendations and specific specifications for wiring the kitchen exit to complete the work safely. If at any time you go through your head, contact a qualified electrician to make sure that your electrical work is done correctly.

Keep the electric box on the island of your kitchen where it will be positioned and surrounded. Use an electric drill to drill a hole in the outline of the electrical box line and cut the rest of the hole with a jigsaw. Use a level to make sure that the electrical box is perfectly vertical.
Use a tape measure to estimate the amount of wire needed to move from the kitchen island to the nearest electrical box for the kitchen circuit. If your kitchen has more than one circuit, identify which circuit has the least number of sockets or appliances that are used regularly. Leave additional cables from 2 to 3 feet in case you need to create additional curves or underestimate the length of the required circuit. Use a wiring diagram or floor of your home to find the nearest electrical box.
Drill a hole through the bottom of the kitchen floor and the subfloor so that you can pass the cable through the floor to the switch. Use a wire fisherman to pass the electric cable from the hole in the electrical box on the kitchen island to the basement of the house. Pass the power cable through the hole. Drill holes through the joists that must pass the cable to reach the electrical box.
Turn off the circuit breaker by activating the main switch power switch. This will cut off all the electricity that enters your home while you connect the cable from the kitchen island exit to an existing circuit inside the kitchen. Use an AC cable tester on existing power cables to check whether the power has been turned off or not.
Strip both ends of the cable so that they are 7-inch bare. Use the feeler gauge on the back of the GFCI output, which indicates the amount of insulation to be removed from the individual wires, which will generally be 1 to 2 inches.
Drill holes so that the electrical box is screwed into the kitchen island. Insert the cables through the electrical box so that at least 6 inches out of the box. Screw the electrical box to the kitchen island. Insert the black wire into the brass side of the outlet and tighten the screw with a screwdriver. Insert the bare white wire into the silver screw and tighten with a screwdriver. Connect the ground wire, which is usually green or with green stripes, to the ground nut on the outlet and screw it with a screwdriver.
Screw the mounting screws to the exit at the top and bottom of the output box.
Contact an authorized electrician to connect the other end of the 12-gauge wire from the electrical socket to the electrical box so that the kitchen island socket is connected to the electrical circuit. The use of a professional electrician will ensure that the work is carried out correctly, safely and in accordance with the code. The electrician can also check the rest of your work and help you answer any specific questions on the site that may arise as a result of the work on the project.
Turn on the power outlet and test the connection in the circuit’s electrical box with an AC tester. Also test the connectivity of the sockets using a grip tester. Try GFCI by connecting the output tester and pressing the red button on the front of the socket. Press the black button. The test lights should go out and turn on.
Screw the plate to cover the outlet.
