If the duvet has become a smell of mold, similar to a damp basement, it is likely to have a mold growing on the quilt. This small living organism grows on wet surfaces and in warm environments. When removing mold and odor from the duvet, be careful not to damage the duvet itself.
Mix the lemon juice and table salt in a bowl to create a thin paste. Brush the lemon paste on any mold stain on the duvet.
Put the duvet in the sun and let the lemon paste dry.
Brush the dried lemon juice paste from the duvet.
Wash the duvet in a large capacity washing machine. Use hot water and laundry detergent. Add 1 cup of white vinegar to the wash cycle to remove the remaining mold spores and deodorize the stinking quilt.
Put your cleaning quilt in the dryer with some clean tennis balls. Run the dryer in a complete cycle to dry the duvet.
The tennis balls prevent the accumulation of the duvet inside the quilt.
